New Commissioner School
The next New Commissioner of Elections School will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 6:00 pm
Calcasieu Parish Courthouse
1000 Ryan St., Courtroom A, 3rd Floor
(Use entrance on Pithon St.)
If you are interested in becoming a commissioner, once a year the Office of the Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court will hold a new commissioner school.
Requirements to become a Commissioner:
1) You are a registered voter in Calcasieu Parish at the time of the class or a person who is at least 17 years of age, provided that the person is enrolled in a high school or is participating at the twelfth grade level in a home study program approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
2) You do NOT need assistance in voting.
3) You may NOT be a candidate in the Election.
4) You have NOT been convicted of an Election offense.
The class will last approximately 3 hours. You will be instructed on all aspects of the commissioner's duties for Election day as well as having hands-on experience opening and closing a voting machine. At the conclusion of the instruction, you will take an open book test on the information you have learned during the class.

You do not need to pre-register. The class is free of charge. There will be an open book test.
